About

Roman Andres Izquierdo

Registered physiotherapist practising across four Toronto clinics, treating runners, strength athletes and post-operative patients.

How I work

Assessment takes a full appointment. That means a proper history, a physical examination, and a written plan you leave with — not a five-minute look followed by a machine. I would rather spend the first session finding out precisely what is driving the problem than start treating the wrong thing quickly.

Most of what I treat responds to graded loading rather than rest. That is true of tendon problems, most back pain, and nearly all post-operative rehabilitation. The programme you go home with is the treatment; what happens in the room supports it.

Where hands-on work, needling or shockwave therapy helps, I use it, and I will tell you what it is for and how long I expect to need it. If something is not working after a reasonable trial, I will say so and change the plan.

Who I see

Runners, from first half-marathon to competitive. Strength athletes and anyone whose rehabilitation needs to happen in a gym. Post-operative patients working through a surgeon’s protocol. People with vertigo, jaw pain and persistent tendon problems that have not settled elsewhere.

Work with professional and national-level athletes across hockey, baseball, basketball, soccer and track, including Paralympic and Olympic medallists.
